Gorgeous Diesel was brought to us as an emergency boarding case when his owner had to evacuate from Afghanistan in 2021. This particular period stays in all our minds as it is when the Taliban took over the country, and all foreigners working there had to flee with little warning. In his previous life, Diesel was an office dog, going into work with his German owner most days and enjoying a proper home. It is now almost four years that Diesel has been living with us, a long time in the life of a dog. He’s one of our oldest residents too, at the grand old age of 12.
Diesel is about the friendliest and loveliest of dogs you could ever meet. Being a domestic dog once, he also understands commands and sits for treats or for putting on his lead. His eyes light up at the sight of a kong toy, stuffed full of his favourite treats – something our staff love to make up for the dogs every day. Diesel’s other all-time favourite activity is a warm bath, followed by a groom. He has a very long coat, prone to knotting so will happily go for his regular spa days!
Our vets found a hematoma on his right ear a few months ago. Fortunately he was treated straight away and is back to his old healthy self again now.
