Yoda was just a 10 years old when he was rescued from the Dehmazang area of Kabul after falling down under the weight of a heavy load. He had lost his sight completely when his right eye had ruptured and he was in desperate need of some care and attention.
Fortunately, Yoda’s owner was fully in support, having taken Yoda to some of Nowzad’s equine vaccination clinics during the previous few years. He had heard of Nowzad and welcomed the chance to have his donkey properly looked after, fed, watered and maintained in good health – all of which was far more than the owner was able to do in his circumstances. Times are so hard for the average Afghan family to look after themselves, let alone a donkey or horse sadly, as poverty rates soar and the rest of the world largely forgets about the plight of Afghanistan.
Yoda fits in perfectly at the Sanctuary and is such a friendly little boy that he is often partnered with new arrivals or those that need some good companionship. His poor eyesight doesn’t hold him back either and he is often the first into the yard for exercise each day!
Thank you for your ongoing care and support for donkeys just like Yoda.
Please consider making a donatation to help another donkey or horse receive the treatment they all so desperately need. Thank-you for caring.
