David was rescued by Nowzad as a calf in January 2018. He was living in one of the migrant camps on the outskirts of Kabul.
Like many of the animals we came across when conducting welfare visits to these camps, David had open wounds all over his legs that were severely infected. Conditions at these camps were horrific, for the poor humans and animals alike. David was also painfully underweight but, due to so many health issues, was unable to eat.
With our team’s efforts, David was rescued and taken straight away to our sanctuary for full treatment and care. We treated all his wounds and gradually nursed him back to health with a carefully worked-out diet just for him.
David is now a very happy and healthy cow, if a little wide in certain places! He is one of the friendliest animals you could ever meet, enjoying a good fuss on his forehead before trotting off to play with our resident sanctuary dog. We try and tempt him with a variety of vegetables but grass is still David’s preferred meal!
Please consider making a donatation to help another donkey or horse receive the treatment they all so desperately need. Thank-you for caring.
